Nerves

If all goes as planned, in less than twenty-four hours, I will have completed my longest solo flight thus far. Weather analysis is still a go. I’m looking at a short night (seven hours of sleep only if I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow) and six hours, twenty minutes airborne, based on the current wind forecast. Add in and a pair each of preflight, taxi, departure, and approach, and I’ll probably log seven hours – almost eight hours driveway to driveway, including ground transport.Β  That’s a long day.

My longest day in the air prior to this was when I flew to 2G2 back in November, then to HEF after a few hours on the ground in between. That was 5.9 hours logged. This will be an hour more, and without the benefit of an extended pit stop. It’ll be leg one, two hours and fifty-one minutes, hit the ground, taxi, shut down, order fuel while I do fluid balance, then preflight, fire it back up, pick up clearance, and launch for leg number two for three hours and twenty-nine minutes.

I might be feeling a bit nervous. I hope it doesn’t affect my sleep tonight.

Eh. Maybe. If I live long enough.

    Thanks! I try.
