Everyone who has been paying the least bit of attention knows that the official government reports on anything – inflation, unemployment, crime, etc. are heavily manipulated. Many people have put together real world comparisons of many different things that give lie to the official 4.2% inflation rate that was just reported recently.
I’d like to share three examples from my personal life. In the past week chicken feed jumped 4.6%. My usual meal at a local fast food place jumped 11.4%. Regular gasoline jumped 11.2%. I’m already set for most stuff, but I’m putting together a list of shelf-stable staples and non-food consumables that don’t go bad quickly that I’ll be buying more of. I recommend that you do the same if you can. I fear this is going to get much worse before it gets any better.
It will. They *have* to raise the interest rates, and they’re balking. We’re gonna see some really *nasty* inflation before they actually do what they must. I just hope it sticks to ’70s stagflation rather than going full-on Zimbabwe.
From your lips to God’s ears.
Have you consider supplementing the chicken feed with the larvae of black soldier flies? The maggots are used for composting, but poultry love them too. You could kill two birds with one stone if you’d pardon the parlance.
I haven’t considered them specifically, but I do supplement with garden/kitchen scraps (radish tops, etc.) and I have dome extra space in the garden so I’ll be planting a couple varieties of greens specifically for them – I don’t eat greens, but they love them. I’ll look into soldier fly larvae and see what it would take to make that happen too. Thanks for the suggestion.
