Job Transition Update

My gaining manager requested a meeting with me earlier today. I finally got confirmation that my losing manager is the holdup. The part of the factory that isn’t closing is buried in work. So much so that they’re transitioning to a 7×24 four-shift schedule as opposed to three traditional shifts and never-ending overtime and weekend work.

With the new production schedule becoming official, the support staff, including technicians and maintenance must be prepared to cover their roles sufficiently. Supposedly, that plan/schedule for my department is still in work, and my soon-to-be ex-boss is unwilling to release any resources until it is final (and probably in place). I’m told that should be done within the next week or two. The new schedule for production starts 12 October, though, so I don’t expect to really know anything before then.

I asked the status of my request to come in early and work a few hours each day in my new department prior to my usual start time. Three weeks ago that idea was vetoed temporarily by my current supervisor, but gaining manager said he’d look into that again this week and let me know if that had changed.

Ultimately, it was an update without news. I wait still. Meanwhile, I have my first eye procedure two weeks from today. I’ll have to utilize FMLA since I won’t be on third shift and able to work my Wednesday prior to the appointment. Hell, I may try to milk it for longer than just the rest of that week.

OH, FFS! Does your old boss like you so much he wants to keep you, so incompetent that he doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing, or hate you enough he’s trying to screw you over?

B and C. I’ve done more work the last three days than I’ve done in the previous three weeks, but even including that I haven’t done two weeks worth of work in the last three months. He has to know that. So I think he’s fucking me like he did the first of the year when I was up for a promotion. He swore he wanted it for me but spent the next four months feeding me bullshit excuses why it wasn’t happening.
