Dead Dishwasher

I finally got around to clamping the dishwasher drain hose this morning. To test it, I started a cycle with the machine empty. That was a wise decision on my part, since it finished the cycle full of water.

It appears that the kink in the hose wasn’t the only reason why it wasn’t draining properly. The pump is probably bad, and/or maybe the valve. Either way, I am going to buy a new dishwasher instead of trying to repair it.

This one was part of a four appliance for $300 deal that I stumbled across shortly after I bought the house. All of them are old (fridge, above-the-range microwave, and an early generation glass top range) but serviceable, except for the dishwasher.

Any recommendations for a mid-level 24″ built-in dishwasher?

  1. I would call that a “Target of Opportunity.”
