Following the somewhat recent events in Connecticut, there are those who have expressed the desire to further restrict guns. One of the most common arguments is regarding “need”. Who needs firearm X or feature Y?
Before you come after my guns, you need to address a few things that you have but don’t really need. First of all, let’s talk about the piece of technology on which you are reading this. It is very unlikely that you truly need it. If you are unable to provide and document a compelling business or medical need, then it must go. Entertainment is not a need.
Let’s move on to your car. Do you really need one at all? If public transportation is available in your area, then probably not. Even if you can justify need for your own personal vehicle, do you really need something as big or as powerful as what you have? Nobody needs a sports car except for sporting purposes, so all of those need to be turned in. Pickup trucks should require special permits and training requirements.
Now, on to your home. Who needs more than 400 square feet with an additional 150 square feet per additional occupant? And air conditioning? You better be prepared to show medical documentation for that. Hell, I’m not sure you even need indoor plumbing. Countless generations survived just fine without it, thankyouverymuch.
I could go on and on, but my point has been made. For anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together. Which, unfortunately, eliminates the vast majority of politicians.
The next thing that you will hear is “legitimate sporting purpose”.
A hundred round clip (sic) has no legitimate sporting purpose.
Show me the phrase sporting purpose (or anything that could be reasonably made to mean something similar) in the Constitution, or shut the fuck up.
Nevermind. Just shut the fuck up. I was going to go full rant on this, but it’s just not worth the effort. Those who get it, get it. Those who don’t are immune to logic, and trying to have a conversation with them is like (insert favorite metaphor here).
